Faith and Works in Scriptural context:

Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, for by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen, So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.

What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone, but each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world!

So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

Soli Deo Gloria!
